What Schools are Participating in “The Day of Silence”?
As of this time, there is
no “official” public list of participating schools published by
DayOfSilence.org or GLSEN.org. MissionAmerica.com
has put together a list of “possible” schools that may be
involved in the Day of Silence in some way, shape or form.
This information has been
compiled by MissionAmerica.com
and is based on several factors, which are listed on the
organization’s website. This content of this “possible”
list of participating schools and educational institutions is the sole
responsibility of MissionAmerica.com.
Please be sure to read the MissionAmerica.com’s disclaimer
regarding their “list.”
NotOurKids.com recommends that YOU CALL your local
school and ask:
(1) Does the
school have a ‘gay’ club, or ‘Gay/Straight Alliance (GSA)?;
and
(2) Will any
students at all in the school be allowed to participate in the Day of
Silence? If so, find out if the school is official endorsing the event,
allowing it to take place during the school day, allowing homosexual or
other speakers to be brought in to speak before the student body –
and any other questions you may have.
If the school answers “YES” to any of those
questions, NOK
suggests you keep your child home – OUT OF SCHOOL on The Day of
Silence. It is officially taking place April 18, 2007, yet some
schools are observing it earlier or later.

MissionAmerica.com
has list of schools that either
have participated in the Day of Silence in years past (officially or
unofficially), or if a school has a ‘gay’ club or
‘Gay/Straight Alliance’ (GSA) and thus may be participating
this year, to please visit their website.
